string(137) may not be Collieââ¬â¢s genuine dad, however he is as yet her stepfather, yet she just considers him to be a callous, prevailing youngster molester. In todayââ¬â¢s society, while guardians should sustain their youngsters, some are either the ones who cause them the most torment or are unaware of the way that their kid is discouraged or manhandled. The impact that sexual maltreatment has on a small kid is indescribable and can influence the way an individual capacities. In the public eye, numerous individuals think little of the effect of sexual maltreatment, particularly on youthful high school young ladies, however in the two books that I examined, the effect that sexual maltreatment has on a childââ¬â¢s life is plainly extreme and evident. We will compose a custom paper test on The Psychological and Social Effects of Sexual Abuse or on the other hand any comparative subject just for you Request Now Father unlucky deficiencies frequently cause numerous issues in the enactments a kid has with either their life partner or other relatives. In an article composed by Ellis (2003), father unlucky deficiencies are what cause females to turn out to be explicitly dynamic or pregnant. Be that as it may, in the books, Push and The Color Purple, the dads are the ones who are explicitly dynamic with their little girls. These two upsetting, yet incredible books depend on the point of view of two poor, African-American young ladies, named Precious and Cell. Their whole lives rotate around enthusiastic, physical, and sexual maltreatment. In these two books, the sexual maltreatment Is brought about by their fatherââ¬â¢s predominant characters, their mental issues, and their own scorn towards men, while the decay of family connections, low confidence, and attractive energy towards females are on the whole impacts of sexual maltreatment. Mental and social issues are regularly viewed as the most critical impacts of sexual maltreatment against youthful high school young ladies. Ladies have consistently been mistreated by men and have been exposed to such a great amount of cynicism because of male strength. In Preciousââ¬â¢ case, Preciousââ¬â¢ prevailing dad propels her to have intercourse with him so as to fulfill his own sexual needs. The most unmistakable reason for sexual maltreatment In this Instance Is basically his absence of gratefulness towards his little girl and his severe conduct. All through the novel, his bombed associations with Precious and Mary incite his hostility towards Precious. Mary and Allophones relationship needs dependability and negatively affects the relationship Precious has with both her dad and mom. Preciousââ¬â¢ guardians were never hitched in the first place, yet after a timeframe, Preciousââ¬â¢ father chooses to desert his family. As indicated by two creators at Princeton college, Beck and McClellan (2010), there are various reasons for low relationship quality and dependability, and this is basically one of them. Weakened family connections are the most basic elements of sexual maltreatment in the two books. Carolââ¬â¢s predominant character is the fundamental causation of the considerable number of issues he experiences with Mary, in this manner inciting him to leave her for all time. His predominant qualities are indicated when Mary feels committed to him and consents to him Into assaulting their own little girl. Regardless of the way that Precious Is his little girl, Carl dismisses the Immorality of his activities. The torment that he gets Precious through Is unfathomable and the sexual maltreatment proceeds for a long time. For this situation, Carolââ¬â¢s predominance and authority over the two females Is generally Incorporated In the novel. The time before she becomes impregnated by him, not once, yet twice. The two infants she brings forth represent the battles that she has needed to survive and the battles that she will look later on. Notwithstanding the way that she was just 12 years of age at the time her first infant was conceived, she becomes impregnated for the subsequent time, after four years, at 16 years old. The maltreatment that she becomes exposed to causes her a lot of torment and enduring, and it additionally causes a lot of pressure among Precious and her mom, Mary. Since Mary disdains the possibility of Precious accomplishing anything great in her life, she demands Precious stopping school. Her domineering and forceful character makes Precious quit the one thing she feels so profoundly for, which is her instruction. Preciousââ¬â¢ whole life is an oppressive and progressing cycle, and generally, it is a consequence of the sexual maltreatment and the relinquishment of her dad after the introduction of their two youngsters. Since Precious has the obligation to deal with two kids, Mary, being the savage individual that she is, utilizes this as a chance to help her through her own money related troubles. Be that as it may, when Precious engages going to an elective school and moving out with her two kids, Mary obviously debilitates this thought since she depends on the government assistance to get away from her money related battles. An incalculable number of issues emerge through these conversations and that before long makes Mary contact her definitive limit with Precious. Every one of these issues that they experience are issues which surfaced after Carolââ¬â¢s nonattendance. Their poor family relationship is one of the principle impacts of Carolââ¬â¢s maltreatment towards Precious, and it is very obvious that his commanding character is the thing that caused the maltreatment. The issues showed by Sapphire are what at last causes the crumbling of their family relationship and powers Precious to lose the last piece of expectation that she has for her family. The primary character of The Color Purple, Cell, is exploited by her predominant and forceful dad, Alphorns, who utilizes her powerlessness to explicitly mishandle her. In the novel The Color Purple, Collieââ¬â¢s guardians have an extremely broken relationship, particularly in light of the fact that Collieââ¬â¢s mother is sick and is unequipped for satisfying her husbandââ¬â¢s sexual wants. His controlling conduct raises an immense worry for the whole family, and their most exceedingly awful feelings of trepidation are brought to reality when he impregnates his girl twice. Collieââ¬â¢s motherââ¬â¢s sickness is a weight to Alphorns, and he blames it so as to explicitly mishandle Cell. Subsequent to being impregnated by Alphorns twice, she brings forth two wonderful infants, however has them detracted from her by him. His harsh conduct causes Celli to get afraid for both her and her sister, Nineties. Alphorns may not be Collieââ¬â¢s genuine dad, however he is as yet her stepfather, yet she just considers him to be a callous, prevailing kid molester. You read The Psychological and Social Effects of Sexual Abuse in class Papers His predominance is appeared by the manner in which he addresses his little girl, directing her to engage in sexual relations with him and accomplish house work. The maltreatment is the thing that causes Collieââ¬â¢s whole youth to be annihilated, and it just exacerbates as she is compelled to wed a man who epitomizes everything her dad represents, which is controlling and injurious. In the wake of everything that has happened with their family, Allophones relationship with his little girl arrives at its definitive limit once her mom sees, after which, he chooses to go into another relationship with a young lady who is Just around Collieââ¬â¢s age. In the wake of managing the sexual maltreatment for a long while, Celli feels inconvenience when she is close to her dad, and after the demise of her mom, their and characters is clearly the way that the two young ladies are abused by their controlling dads. Notwithstanding the sexual maltreatment, both their dads stay missing for a mind-blowing duration, regardless of whether it is truly or inwardly, and their moms are either dead or oppressive. While both Celli and Preciousââ¬â¢ unrivaled dads cause the sexual maltreatment, the impact that sexual maltreatment has on these two little youngsters is delineated as their family associations disintegrate. Because of the gigantic effect that sexual maltreatment has on these two little youngsters, their whole life turns into a painted image of their demolished family, and in particular, the nonattendance of their dads. The mental issues that one needs to manage can regularly control their life and become the motivation behind why they act a specific way. This is obvious on account of Preciousââ¬â¢ father, Carl. Carolââ¬â¢s issues with Mary, and his own uncertainties, are what cause him o misuse his little girl, both verbally and explicitly. An individual doesn't manhandle another person for no noteworthy explanation, however there is continually thinking behind their activities. In the start of the novel, Sapphire represents Carl as a man who shows no regret or sympathy, somebody who likes to exploit little youngsters. The maltreatment perpetrated on a little youngster can regularly cause the weakening of their character, in particular, their confidence. All through the novel Push, there are numerous occasions that delineate the mental issues that Precious is exposed to, for the most part as consequence of the sexual maltreatment she suffers from her dad. A short time later, Precious turns out to be extremely shaky and feels disturbed at the way that she has endured the maltreatment for such a long time, paying little heed to the way that she is just a youngster and isn't fit for forestalling it. As per Borer and Fine (1992), a childââ¬â¢s advancement can be seriously influenced by sexual maltreatment, just as different types of youngster abuse. Being explicitly mishandled as a youngster can direct how an individual capacities in their regular daily existence, and that is clear in Preciousââ¬â¢ case. Valuable turns out to be so familiar with the dead that she is only a futile, stout, and ignorant young lady, and that no man could ever need to be with her. She lets the maltreatment direct how she feels about specific issues, particularly with respect to her appearance. Her most evident shortcoming is her absence of confidence as she continually alludes to herself as a young lady from a poor neighborhood, with guardians who wish only her definitive most exceedingly awful. Commodities Market Example For Free - Free Essay Example
The agreement to buy and sell such commodities is made through contracts to bring in legality in trading as it involves cash payments margins, delivery of goods and scope for profit maximisation. The emergence of contract systems eventually led to trading in contracts whereby a middlemen stands in between buyers and sellers. The active trading in such contracts brought standardisation which in turn led to the development of futures contracts. A future contract is a standardised, binding agreement to make or take delivery of a specified quantity and grade of a commodity at an established point in future at an agreed upon price. The organization of merchants involved in the trading these commodities evolved into an organisation that standardised the contracts and trading practises and came to be known as The Futures Exchange such as the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) and the London International Financial Futures Exchange. One essential objective of the exchange is to provide the dealers with all necessary information with regard to price volatility i.e. the magnitude of price movement in either direction. Note that it measures price risk and volatility but does not remove or eliminate risks. The exchange provides the benchmark for the determination of price by making price margins mandatory for effective fair trading. Future transactions do not require full advance payments for the commodity (just the margin) , the buyer of a futures contract which increases in value (or the seller of futures contract which decreases in value) can realize a profit which can be substantial in relation to the commitment of capital. Brazil today is the world largest producer of coffee. Considering this figures, it is not surprising to note that it has attracted considerable amount of speculation and ever increasing susceptibility to price volatility. Coffee production has direct linkage with weather besides many other factors such as world coffee prices. A coffee drink manufacturer will buy coffee beans from a coffee producer at an agreed price if he/she expects to have drastic climatic changes which will result in coffee being expensive at a future date. A sudden drop in the production in future will cut supply and make it more expensive. the buyer can, therefore, avoid unnecessary risk by buying a futures contract that will guarantee him delivery of coffee at a future date at a price fixed now. However, it must also be noted that he/she will suffer loss if the future current/spot price of coffee beans were to fall drastically due to improved production and competitions. Take an example of Brazil The Brazilian Crop was initially expected to produce about 50 million bags of coffee. Seasonal disturbances such as rain, harvest delays and quality problem caused production to fall to 33.5 million bags. Due to severe drought in Viet Nam coffee production dropped by almost 1 million bags. These shortages of coffee output distort the supply level which leads to a global rise in prices. So what roles does the future markets play in the production and selling of coffee? Taking these points into account the next chapter looks at the Indian and world coffee markets and the role future market plays in its pricing. In the analysis, I have made use of some articles from the Times of India newspaper and other websites. It is logical to state that at times of shortage prices tend to go up due to higher demand and which in turn puts pressure on sellers to sell their product at a lower price. We know from our analysis before that a buyer will resort to futures contract if he expects the prices to go up in future. However considering that the production too has been low the chances of producing the required amount to meet the demand is less which adds to speculation in the market. The report also suggests one source as saying that it is better to pay penalty and cancel a contract rather than to loose significant amount of money by fulfilling it. Note that sometimes the whole idea of futures contract is not meet the obligation in terms of delivering the commodity but to profit from the speculation that these uncertainties give rise to. The world coffee production in 2003/2004 was estimated to be around 105.3 million 60 kilogram bags down nearly 2 percent from forecast made in June and down 15 percent from the 2002/03 season. Factors such as low er production contribute to great extent the price determination. For the year 2004/2005 it was widely believed that Brazilian coffee production to be around 33-35 million bags but due to substandard weather and low level of investment the production is likely to be below 30 million bags. This drop in production is likely to cut the supply level and Brazil being the world largest producers, any drop in its output will affect the world supply and thereby raise the price. These uncertainties lead to prices going up in the futures markets. It has long been felt that some traders hold stocks to push the prices up and then sell it to make supernatural profits. Lets look at the graphical representation of prices of Robusta class of coffee as determined at the International Coffee Organisation (ICO) to assess the trends in the market. The graph below shows that since November 2004 Robusta coffee prices have increased at a slow and steady pace. However, a report that appeared on the Economic Times suggests that volatility in the world prices over the last few days have affected trading in coffee in the markets. The ICO in its Coffee Market Report seems to suggest that the downturn in mid-April caused a slight fall of 3.19 percent in the monthly average of the ICO Composite Indicator Price which dropped from 101.44 cents/lb in March to98.20 cents/lb in April. It also suggests that this has been due to high level of activity from various investment funds. Comparing the results put forward by the ICO to the recent reports in the Economic Times newspaper (24/05/2005) the volatility in the world prices have triggered a bullish trend in the Indian markets which explains why trading in the coffee auctions markets have suffered. Estimates shows that there was a 40 percent drop in the overall quantum sold when compared to the previous ICTA auction. The beginning of the year showed a significant climb in the moving averages between January and mid-March and then a significant drop till the mid of April. One of the least complex ways to use a moving average is to simply look at the slope a rising slope indicates that the market is in an uptrend and falling slope indicates a downward trend in the market. Moving Averages is a statistical technique for smoothing price movement in order to identify the trends more easily. It is equally important to understand that moving averages are sensitive to the number of days used to calculate the average i.e. the more days that are used; the less sensitive is the average. Some experts are of the view that MA can be a critical factor in decision making. For e.g. traders can make use of one or more MA to determine buy or sell decisions i.e.to use a slow MA together with a fast MA. A slow moving average can be calculated by taking more days opening or closing prices and fast moving average by taking fewer days prices. In a more elaborate way, what it means is that you must buy when the fas ter MA goes above the slower one and sell when the faster MA goes below the slower one [or] buy when prices are above both fast and slow MA and sell when prices are below both MA. The chart below is a graphical example of how a Moving Average looks like as of 05/27/2005. The Red Line (price line) is above the moving average so the trend is up indicating that the market is bullish and also the fast moving average (dark blue) is above the slow moving average (light blue). Volume of7078.00 suggests the measure of trading activity during the selected period of time. It refers to the number of futures contract that are either bought or sold during that period. Open Interests, on the other hand, measures the number of futures contract that remains open at a particular point in time, usually at the closing of trade. In the next chapter, I have looked at India as a producer of Coffee. India is relatively new into the coffee future markets and has performed exceedingly well. Ho wever, due to the speculative nature of the futures market and also bureaucratic hurdles have led to decrease in contract sales and increased price and non-competitiveness in the global coffee market. The two principal species of coffee grown in India are Robusta and Arabica. Trading in coffee futures was introduced only recently and prices are extensively depended on the coffee trading in the New York and London futures markets as it has considerable influence on the world coffee prices. These prices are notoriously volatile and varies considerably due to factors such as weather forecast, size of the coffee stock worldwide and speculations in the futures markets The Indian coffee production and physical trade is worth over $ 430 million annually. The production of Indian coffee is greatly influenced by world prices particularly since it is the second largest actively traded commodity in the world market. The Coffee Futures Exchange India Limited was formed under the sup ervision of Forwards Markets Commission to look into all trading practices affecting coffee prices. The main objectives are To provide hedging opportunity against coffee price risk. To ensure guaranteed delivery of coffee. To provide a price discovery mechanism for future period up to 18 months at any given point of time. Besides these it is important to look at the mechanism COFEI uses to ensure that market participants follows the rules in ensure financial integrity. Factors such as margins, Price limits for trading, daily marking-to-market of all trades and sufficient capital including guarantee funds ensures that proper procedures are followed when a contract is bought and sold. In India, coffee has been categorized into 4 different types with each having different margins for smooth and efficient trading. The table next page gives a snapshot view of how coffee in India is traded and in particular the different class of coffee whether raw or clean. The coffee industry, in general, has seen surge in prices by almost 40 percent. Exports in recent times have been hit quiet badly. Reports on the Financial Express newspaper suggest that export have suffered especially due to the price non-competitiveness in the world markets. India exported nearly 225,000 tonnes of coffee last year with majo rity (50 %) of it going to Europe. Indias coffee production and exports for the year 2005-06 (October-September) are forecast to increase by 5% and 29%, respectively. The anticipated rise in coffee export is against the backdrop of almost 26% decline in the current year (2004-05/Oct-Sep). Coffee exports are expected to fall to an eight-year low of 169,980 tonne, or 2.83 million 60-kilogram bags, in the current year ending Sept 30, from 229,320 tonne, or 3.82 million bags, a year earlier. India, the worlds fifth-biggest coffee exporter is set to witness decline as farmers and traders are withholding beans on expectations of higher prices. One of the biggest problems facing the traders in the Indian coffee industry is the time difference between India and the New York and London trading centres. Indian traders were now finding it difficult to hedge their risk. The local exchange functioned only till 5pm when the LIFFE and NYBOT and other European markets functioned till ov er 11.30 pm IST.

International Trade And Exchange Rates - 2916 Words
Although difficult to establish and measure, a close relationship exists between international trade and exchange rates. UNCTAD (2013) acknowledges that the relative valuations of currencies and their volatility often have important repercussions on international trade, the balance of payments and overall economic performance. This relationship has moved to the center stage of international trade debate following the 2008 financial crisis and the decision by several large countries to maintain undervalued currencies in order to promote exports, in turn stimulating domestic economic growth. Gagnon (2012) sets the landscape, stating that ââ¬Ëgovernments are distorting capital flows by around $1.5 trillion per year, in an attempt to hold down the value of their currencies.ââ¬â¢ The impact of currency misalignment on international trade has led to global imbalances and many scholars and governments have criticized the World Trade Organization (WTO) for its failure to address this problem. One of the leading scholars in international law, Bergsten (2007) aptly summarizes these concerns stating ââ¬Ëthe failure to link the trade and currency issues is by far the most important single issue facing the global trading system and, indeed, international economic cooperation todayââ¬â¢. Whilst various autho rs (Mattoo and Subramanian, 2009; Thorstensten, Marcal Ferraz, 2014) argue that the WTO is the best forum to address issues of currency misalignment owing to its credibility and effectiveness inShow MoreRelatedThe Foreign Exchange Rate On International Trade And Cross Country Investment Essay4627 Words à |à 19 Pages1 Introduction The foreign exchange rate is the rate when domestic currency (for example, Chinese yuan) is used to exchange foreign currency (for example, us dollar). Marketing And Cultural Analysis of China â⬠MyAssignmenthelp.com
Question: Discuss about the Marketing And Cultural Analysis of China. Answer: Introduction The country China, also known as the People`s republic of China is one of the largest countries of East Asia. Occupying approximately the entire East Asian landmass, it occupies one-fourteenth of the land mass of the planet and has the largest population in the world. The country has thirty-three administrative units under the domain of the Central Government. The capital of the nation is Beijing, which is also the communication, economic and cultural capital of the country (Shambaugh, 2013). The leading port and commercial centre is Hong Kong, with Shanghai being the industrial city of China. The country is highly complex and a diverse country in terms of climate. The climate ranges from extremely arid conditions in the northwestern part of the country to southeast with one of the greatest contrasts in temperature. This diversity has resulted in the world`s widest collection of ecological niches, with these being rich in a vast variety of animals and plants of all kind. In terms of history, China is one of the few civilizations, which are still existing (Poston Jr. Yaukey, 2013). The Chinese civilization flourished both culturally and economically in its earliest stages. Although there have been cases of social and political turbulence in the country, China has shown commendable longevity and resilience in its cultural-political unit. This country has developed its culture without much outside intervention, Buddhism from India being the only exceptional case. This non-existence of any intervention from the outside world, although made China a culturally rich country, but it also left China paralyzed when faced by the technologically superior nations (Scharping, 2013). Amongst this foreign on slaughter, China found itself in a weak position. However, this inability brought about a revolution, which fought against the old regime and gave rise to the establishment of a communist regime. This was the turning point for China, where thereafter the nation was reshaped in every aspect including political, business and infrastructure. Since then China has become one of the most influential and powerful countries in the world The economy of China is one of the largest in the world for the last few years during which it has witnessed the cycles of decline as well as prosperity. The country is the world`s second largest economy in terms of GDP (Gong, 2012).The country has built itself into an economic giant with trillions of reserved and Foreign Direct Investment opportunities. China in the global economy. The country is also the largest international holder of United States debt owning over $ 1.15 trillion in their treasury bonds. With high rankings in the Global Competitiveness Index, China has low rankings in terms of economic freedom The country has made huge investments in terms of scientific research. The Chinese believe that science and technology are vital for the achievement of the country`s political and economic growth. They have been developing their educational system as well especially in the domain of mathematics, science and engineering (Jiang, 2013). Some of the brands of Chinese technology like Huawei and Lenovo have become world leaders in personal computing. China realized the dependence of its economic system on the US Dollar and recognized this weakness in its international monetary system. It improvised the system and because of this, the Chinese currency became the eighth most traded currency in the world. This report throws light on the environment of China with special aspects to the cultural and business in the nation (Yin, 2013). It includes a study of Hofstede`s five cultural dimensions of China. China has been chosen as the country in the assignment because when the topic of international business arises, China is a lead player in the global market and the highest attractor of the Foreign Direct Investments as stated earlier. Hence, China was an optimum country to understand the issues in international business. Discussion: Cultural Analysis of China The given section will discuss the business cultural analysis of china which shall provide an exploration of China`s culture and their business cultural structure. The aim of this section is to identify the daily elements of the culture of China and how this culture is incorporated in their business. Globalization has opened various doors for expansion of trade into the other countries of the globe. Therefore, when a company is expanding its operations, the knowledge about the culture of the other country is crucial (Ardichvili et al., 2012). Demographics The country ranks one in the world with respect to its population, which are more than one billion people. The country encompasses several ethnic groups with the Han Chinese being the largest of all (Kleinman Lin, 2013). It includes other minority groups as well like Tibetan, Korean and Zhuang. Communication China has a high context , non-verbal society which helps them to gain the art in their growth to understand what to say and what action needs to be taken even if it is not said to them directly (Griffin Pustay, 2012).They rely on facial expressions and tone of voice to determine one`s feelings. They also tend to avoid eye contact, as they believe that eye contact is a sign or disrespect. Written and Spoken Language Mandarin and Cantonese are the two primary dialects spoken (Warner, 2014). The first belonging to the southern part while the latter belongs to the northern part Basic Etiquette Greetings Greetings are an important aspect of China with the elders being given most importance. The people are addressed using the last name unless advised otherwise (Ardichvili et al., 2012). They tend to bow their head when greeting other and with respect to foreigners, a handshake is considered appropriate. Dining The host is always the first person to begin eating during a feast. He also tends to propose a toast. When the feast begins, the host will be the first one to begin eating. The host is also the person who proposes the toast (Gomez, 2012). The chopsticks when not in use should be laid on the table; they are not something to be played with, as this is a sign of disrespect for the host. Religion The communist party of China is atheists. Religious freedom is allowed in China; however, many are harassed for their religious beliefs and practices. Five religions are acknowledged by China, which include Buddhism, Islam, Protestantism, Taoism and Catholicism. Ethics and Values The Chinese have high ethical and moral values. Marriage Marriage comprises a significant part of the Chinese culture. The acceptance of both the parties to marriage is important (Gomez, 2012). Arranged marriages, Polygamy and Incest are forbidden. Children The government had placed a limit of the number of children a family can have. The limit being set to one. However, recently when it was discovered from a study that the ageing population of China has increased, the limit was raised to two. Confucianism This principle can be defined as a set of ethical and moral system, which represent the rules that one person, should abide by based on the teachings of Confucius who was a Chinese philosopher (Warner, 2014). He had laid down various systems of social structure system based on the equality of relationships and educational system, which is considered extremely important in China. Children of wealthy families have a better advantage at gaining high post governmental position in jobs. Integrating these Cultural components with the business environment of China Corruption Recently, corruption has been observed as an emerging threat to China. It has increased in the mid level and senior level involvement for monetary reasons. Enforcement has not been very successful (Gomez, 2012). The Chinese government has certain anti-corruption measures however, according to a report less than 3 % of corrupt officials end up behind the bars. Etiquette Social interactions require proper etiquette Relationships and communication Business in china is generally done with known companies because of the confidentiality of business data. The business information of the two companies who are dealing is sent ahead of time. Gender roles do not exist and respect is given to the rank of the person (Ardichvili et al., 2012). The Chinese prefer face-to-face interaction. In social occasions, they Chinese do not like to discuss matters related to the business. Gift giving and Greetings Giving gifts and receiving is not acceptable in the domain of business. The gift even if given with due respect is considered to be a form of bribery which is considered to be illegal in the country. Handshakes are considered the formal greeting. While using titles of courtesy most of the business executives should be addressed with a title, which is followed by their last name. Meetings Appointments for the meetings scheduled are made in advance and punctuality is of extreme relevance in meetings (Kleinman Lin, 2013). Talking out of turn or intervening when a person is explaining his agenda is not acceptable. Seniormanagement sits along with other senior members. The Chinese expect the business partners or prospective partners to be well prepared for the meeting. It is suggested that the business proposal has at least 20 copies so that it is handed out to everyone present in the meeting. The presentations need to be build in black and white, any other color should be avoided. Composure must be maintained during the meetings. Reflection of emotions tends to put a negative effect for the concerned business organization. Social Structure A person is associated with their work circle and the individual should not depart from his group. It is also said that while entering a meeting, the organizational hierarchy should be followed. Negotiation Negotiations may be done by the seniormanagement of the company. People in china do not like confrontation. In addition, they prefer not being pressurized to take certain decisions. The Chinese tend to have a habit of extending negotiations beyond the deadline to gain advantage in dealings. Patience is the key. Appearance Dark color business attires are considered appropriate for the men and on the other hand, women should be wearing a dress or a business suit with flat shoes and a high neckline (Chan Tong, 2014). Body Language Body language and movements are needed to be taken care of and a person needs to be constantly conscious when doing business in China. A person needs to stay calm and collected. The body posture should be attentive and formal thereby demonstrating self-control and respectfulness. Actions such as biting nails. Removing food from teeth, placing hands on the mouth are considered rude. Comparing the culture of China with that of the home country Malaysia: Malaysia is a combination of various cultures of China and India as well. However, there are certain similarities and differences between the two. Malaysia is a multicultural society where multiple religions are allowed and encouraged. There are certain inherited customs and traditions, which are blended with the foreign culture. Approximately 50% of the population in Malaysia is Malaysians, the rest comprising of Chinese, Indian and others (Warner, 2014). Therefore, Chinese, Indian, English, Indonesian and Thai are the majority of the languages, which are spoken. The Malaysian way of Business comprises of diplomacy, politeness, negotiation, sensitivity, understanding and compromise (Wild et al., 2014). The business structures are hierarchical, information flows towards the top, and decisions are generally taken by the senior management. Meetings can be lengthy and usually begin with the small talk. Generally, initial meetings are focused on non-business issues. Unlike the Chinese, meetings in Malaysia start later than the prescribed time and last longer than intended (Kleinman Lin, 2013). There should be flexibility in work schedules. Since the place is a hybrid of all cultures, gifts exchange and other activities must be sensitive and thoughtful. It is very difficult for the Malaysians to use the word `no` and therefore, consideration should be given to their constraints. Hence, China has a strict culture on the other hand; Malaysia has a diverse and flexible culture. While doing business in China, the Malaysians should see to it that all Chinese cultures are adhered to. Hofstedes 5 cultural dimensions analysis Geert Hofstede developed a framework for cross-cultural communication named the Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory. The theory explains the impact of the culture of a society on the values and ethics of its members (Taras, Steel Kirkman, 2012). It also analysis how these ethics are related to behaviour, using the structure which has been derived from factor analysis. The theory consists of five dimensions: power distance (strength of social hierarchy) individualism-collectivism masculinity-femininity( Also known as Achievement versus Nurturing) uncertainty avoidance Long term-Short term orientation (task orientation versus person-orientation) In 2010, Hofstede added a sixth dimension called indulgence versus self-restraint. Hofstede`s work is often drawn upon by consultants and researchers in various dimensions relating to international business and communication. The theory has been used as a basis for various fields like psychology, and international management (Minkov Hofstede, 2012). Hofstedes five Cultural Dimensions forChina The dimensions of culture are given below: Power Distance (PDI) This dimension is the measure of extent to which the people in the organization with less power will except and accept power to be distributed in a different manner. The rank of China in this index is 80, which is extremely high. The interpretation of this is that there exists a vast difference between the powers of the senior management but that is acceptable and normal. Individualism/Collectivism (IDV) This is to identify the mentality of the people whether they consider `I` or `we`. The culture in America is focused on `I` which means people there are focused highly on themselves and their careers (Minkov Hofstede, 2012). China on the other hand, ranks 91 on this dimension which means they have a collectivistic mentality and think more about the group`s interest rather than the interest of an individual. Masculinity/Femininity (MAS) (Achievement versus nurturing) The rank of China is 66 in the MAS Index. This means that they are driven by competition, achievements and success. The Chinese often place work before other responsibilities (Hofstede Dimensions, 2012). This has been portrayed by the fact that Chinese workers and laborers leave their families behind and work for eleven months out of twelve. Uncertainty Avoidance (UAI) China ranks 40 in this dimension proving that they tend to accept situations, which are ambiguous rather than being deterred by them. Although the Chinese are bound by many rules and regulations, to avoid such situations, however, where the problems arise, they are willing to bend these rules if the situation demands for it. The Chinese language is also very ambiguous and difficult to interpret. Long-term/Short-term Orientation (LTO) China ranks high in this dimension with a score of 118, which means that they focus on perseverance and persistence. They are extremely dedicated and hardworking. They tend not to get affected by the time required to achieve those goals (Minkov Hofstede, 2012). This dimensions truthfulness is portrayed in the time consuming negotiation by the Chinese and the time taken in building long-term relationships and trust. Indulgence vs. Self-Restraint- According to the sixth dimension, Indulgence societies allow relatively a freedom in gratification of instinct and desires relating to the enjoyment in life. Whereas Restraint societies on the other hand Restraint societies believe that, these restrictions need to be limited and regulated by a set of strict rules and regulations. China as a culture is often described as strict and restrained. Each countries cultural dimension is often embedded in the country`s culture and difficult to understand unless one is brought up and raised there. The culture of China needs to be analyzed properly before entering into any contracts with company in the nation (Mazanec et al., 2015). A misunderstanding of these can damage any kind of relationships with the Chinese. Conclusion Therefore, from the discussion it can be said that when expanding in another country, a deep understanding of their cultural environment is essential. These cultural aspects often tend to play a crucial role in the success of a business relationship. China retrieves its culture from the ancient times with the advent of the Chinese civilization China`s culture is restricted by norms and regulations. They have certain standards of communication, meetings, gifts and dealings. They do not believe in gender roles but are in the favor of power and position. These norms and regulations need to be respected when dealing with the company belonging to China. From the Hofstede`s cultural dimensions analysis it could be seen that although the Chinese are restricted and norms-policies oriented, they are hardworking and persistent. Hence, all business activities must be sensitive to their culture. References Ardichvili, A., Jondle, D., Kowske, B., Cornachione, E., Li, J., Thakadipuram, T. (2012).
